A Better Chance Information

I received an email from A Better Chance which offers support and scholarship to students of color. I have copied the information here in the event there are parents who are interested in pursuing their offerings. Contact information is also included if you have questions. I am not familiar with the organization, but did not want any of PCA's students to miss an opportunity.

We will see you soon!
Mrs. Erschen

Dear Audrey,

We are writing to inform you that the 2010 application to A Better Chance is now available on our website ( http://www.abetterchance.org/). We are a national organization that specializes in helping families access the best educational opportunities available for their children. We are looking for academically strong applicants: students of color in grades five through ten, who are in the top 10% of their class with a grade average of B or better. We are eager to have students apply this year from Providence Creek Academy as we know that you prepare students well for their next educational step.

Since 1963, A Better Chance has been opening the door to educational opportunities for thousands of young people of color in this nation. Every year we place about 500 new students (Scholars) and support over 1,900 currently-enrolled Scholars in more than 300 of our Member Schools across the country. After graduation, these Scholars can look forward to attending four-year colleges, launching exciting careers and having a real chance to make a difference in their community.

We hope you share information about this exciting opportunity with any students that you think may be a good match for this program. Please contact us right away to discuss school options for the next school year—the application process begins approximately a year before placement and is very competitive.
