Nominations for Delaware Comprehensive Assessment System (DCAS) Standard Setting Meeting

The Department of Education is requesting nomination of community members to participate in DCAS End of Course Standards Setting Panels.  Please see the corespondence below.  If you are interested in participating and would like to be nominated, please contact me at audrey.erschen@pca.k12.de.us so I can complete the application for you.

RE: Nominations for Delaware Comprehensive Assessment System (DCAS) Standard Setting Meeting
 

The Delaware Department of Education (DDOE) appreciates your assistance in nominating individuals from the community to serve on End-of-Course (EOC) Standard Setting panels for the DCAS. There will be one panel for each EOC content area—Algebra I, Integrated Math I, English II, Biology, and US History. The recommendations made by the panels will be forwarded to the Delaware State Board of Education for review and approval in August 2012.
 

The DCAS EOC panel is scheduled for July 23–24, 2012. A brief overview and the nomination form for the DCAS EOC participants are attached. The meeting location is the Sheraton Hotel, 1570 North DuPont Highway, Dover. Nominees must agree to commit to two, full days, and the meeting times will be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided courtesy of AIR.
 
General
 
We request that you identify up to three candidates for each Standard Setting committee, and we need to receive your nominations by July 6, 2012. When submitting your nominations, please complete one form for each candidate. The information contained on each form will assist DDOE associates with ensuring the panels have demographically balanced representation.
 
Before submitting your nominations to DDOE, please confirm each nominee’s availability and willingness to make the two-day commitment. You may e-mail the forms to Jackie Edge at jedge@doe.k12.de.us or fax them to Jackie at 739-3092. If you have registration questions, please call Jackie at 739-4090.
 
Please note that nominees are not automatically selected for participation. As indicated previously, the goal is to have panels that are demographically balanced and represent all of the people in Delaware. Therefore, not all nominees will be chosen to participate in the standard setting process. Selected nominees will be notified of their selection via e-mail and/or telephone, if appropriate, and we will request confirmation of their intent to attend the Standard Setting meeting.
