Letter to Parents

February 16, 2012

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It is with great sadness that I am writing to inform you of a tragedy that has happened in our educational community. Just after the holidays, there was a PolyTech High School student who took her life. Since then, there have been two more students from PolyTech High School who committed suicide. One occurred the beginning of this week, the other just yesterday.

At Providence Creek Academy we have a large number of graduates who attend PolyTech and realize our students may be touched by this tragedy. With this in mind we want you to be aware of the situation and let you know that we have been in contact with our school psychologist in the event that any of our students need emotional support. Our teachers and other staff members have been informed of the availability of these resources for any of our students, past or present.

I ask you as parents to talk with your children. I did communicate with our sixth, seventh and eighth graders to let them know a network of support is here for them. If you would like additional information or believe your child needs counseling please contact the interventionists or myself. With the continued support of the PCA family, I believe we can move past this sadness.

Respectfully,
Audrey M. Erschen
