Erschen’s Expressions January/February 2010

Let’s think WARM!!! Unfortunately, it is winter in Delaware. I want to remind you to listen to the radio (WDSD/WSTW/WJBR), watch television (NBC10/WBOC16), check the State of Delaware School Closing website, or call the school when inclement weather is predicted. Closings are also posted under News on the PCA website. At this point in time we have used 3 snow days, so our calendar for the end of the year is extended by three days with the last day of school now being June 18th.

With our new trimester schedule, Progress Reports will be sent home on Wednesday, February 10th. President’s Day will be celebrated on Monday February 15th, with no school. March 16th, is the end of second trimester with report cards scheduled to go home on the 24th. DSTP begins on March 10th this year. Please look for more information on our website as the time comes closer.

There have been some changes that have occurred since the beginning of the school year. We have three new full time employees we welcome to PCA. Chef Gerald Ward, our new Cafeteria Manager comes with many years experience as a Professional Chef. Joyce Gossman, our full time Librarian, brings many new talents to our library. Jennifer Robinson will take over the duties of 7th grade ELA teacher. Miss Robinson grew up in the Smyrna area and has a strong background in journalism. Mrs. Lambert has assumed the Reading Specialist position. We would also like to welcome Marge Knorr-Hayden back from medical leave. Finally we would like to welcome a new addition to our PCA Family; Tarah Curl is the proud mother of Rylee Mae Curl, born 12/22/09 at 11:56 P.M. She weighed 7 lbs, 5 oz and measured 21.5 inches long.

On a final note, we are beginning to plan for next year. Any siblings of currently enrolled students must complete an application in order to become PCA students in 2010-2011. Look for a letter coming home for you to indicate your student’s attendance at Providence Creek Academy for the 2010-2011 school year. Please complete this letter and return it by the 26th of February so we can prepare for your child.

We look forward to continued success and excitement in this New Year. We are sure to face new changes and challenges; however, all of us are ready for what lies ahead. Thank you and have a great and exciting New Year.
